Charging and Warnings

5.2.4 Charging

5.2.4.1 In-Truck Charging

On models equipped with charger communication features, the cradle may be connected to an approved charger to initiate a charging session.

Warning: Never connect the cradle to a lead-acid or unapproved battery charger, as this may result in battery damage or fire.

When a charging session begins:

  • The Drive Power indicator displays solid orange.
  • The highest illuminated segment of the Battery SoC gauge flashes orange to indicate active charging.

5.2.5 Warnings and Fault Conditions

5.2.5.1 Stop Condition

If a fault occurs that requires the cradle or battery to disconnect power from the forklift, the system will enter a Stop condition. In this state:

  • The Stop indicator flashes red rapidly.
  • The Maintenance indicator illuminates orange.
  • The BDI emits three short beeps every 2 seconds.

5.2.5.2 Fault

If the cradle and battery are unable to provide power to the forklift due to a fault:

  • The Drive Power indicator displays solid red.
  • The Maintenance indicator illuminates orange.

To clear the fault, power-cycle the cradle.

5.2.6 State of Charge Behavior

5.2.6.1 Return State of Charge

When the battery’s SoC begins approaching a low level, the bottom three segments of the Battery SoC gauge will illuminate orange and emit a short beep every 60 seconds. This indicates that the battery should be swapped or charged.

5.2.6.2 Low State of Charge

  • Bottom two segments illuminate red.
  • BDI emits a long beep every 30 seconds.

5.2.6.3 Critically Low State of Charge

  • Cradle will initiate the Stop condition and remove power after 30 seconds.
  • The lowest SoC indicator will flash red rapidly.

5.3 Using the Cradle

5.3.1 Returning Late / Low SoC

If warnings are missed, the battery may shut down to prevent damage. A shutdown will typically occur after approximately 20 seconds of alarms.

5.3.2 Shutdown Warning System (SWS)

There are typically two shutdowns that the system uses in the event of a fault:

  • 30 second: Mild over-temp, low SoC, mild sustained under/over voltage.
  • 10 second: Critical temp, very low/high cell voltage, excessive current.
